The USANA
Story
USANA Health Sciences is a science-based company that
develops, manufactures, and markets nutritional, personal
care, and weight management products. Microbiologist and
immunologist Dr. Myron Wentz established the company in 1992
to create products that provide antioxidant protection and
overall cellular nutrition for the body. The primary focus of
the company is to develop and market scientifically advanced
nutritional products to help prevent degenerative disease and
promote optimal health.
The first products were manufactured and distributed under the
name USANA, which derives from Greek and Latin, meaning
“true health.” The foundation of USANA’s nutritional
system is the ESSENTIALS, a comprehensive vitamin,
antioxidant, and mineral formula that promotes long-term
health and well-being. The ESSENTIALS contain more than 40
active ingredients and extracts, far more than the 24 vitamins
and minerals commonly considered adequate. In 2002, USANA
reconfirmed it commitment to antioxidant protection when the
company received two U.S. patents for Olivol™—a highly potent
and first-of-its-kind olive fruit extract.
Today, USANA products are sold directly to Preferred
Customers and Associates in the United States, Canada,
Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands,
Hong Kong, Japan, and most recently, Taiwan. In 2001, net
sales reached $114.3 million.

The corporate staff has grown from 10 people in 1992 to almost
500 employees internationally today.
USANA was named a Top 100 Public Company in October
2000 by Utah Business Magazine, with a ranking of 21st. The
company has also been recognized numerous times by the
industry magazine Network Marketing Today. These awards
include Best Company in Network Marketing in 2000 and 1997; a
Top 10 Company in Network Marketing for 2002, 2001, and 1999;
and a Distributor Choice Award Winner for the Best Company in
Network Marketing for five years running.
USANA Health Sciences is publicly traded and can be
found on the NASDAQ Stock Market® under the symbol USNA. |
